The financial and macroeconomic worlds are nowadays experiencing structural changes due to the availability of large amount of unstructured data, also know as Big Data. The Big Data and Forecasting of Economic Developments project (bigNOMICS) of the Centre for Advanced Studies of the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC-CAS) organized the Special Session on Big data in Economics and Finance within The 6th International Conference on Machine Learning, Optimization, and Data Science.
